Cake Ordering 101

Ordering your Queen City Cakes cake is easy. Here’s how it works:

Choose your Design

Start by browsing our cake designs and decide what you're looking for.

Already have an idea? Perfect.
Have absolutely no idea? Here's some pointers to get you going. 

You don't need to arrive with a fully formed cake design.

Have a little look around our website, Instagram, Pinterest or online and save a few cakes, colours, details or styles that catch your eye. Maybe you love the piping from one cake, the colours from another and the overall feeling of a third. Send them our way!

The more visual information you can give us, the better we can understand your aesthetic and create something that feels like your cake. A few good inspiration photos are much more helpful than trying to describe exactly what you have in your head, especially when your description is simply, “I don't know… I just want it to be pretty.”

Inspiration is inspiration, not an exact copy. We use your references to understand your visual requirements and then create the design in the Queen City Cakes style, taking into account the size, structure and details of your cake.

Still at a loss give us a call, we aren't going to design it necessarily but we can get vibes and point you to some of our catalogue cakes.

One big request when you call we cannot stay on the phone whilst you browse our website.

Choose your Size

Select the size based on how many people you'll be serving.

Not sure how much cake you need? Just ask, we'd rather help you order the right amount than leave you desperately dividing the last slice.

Choose your Date

Select your preferred pick-up date, Tuesday-Saturday only, we are closed on Sunday & Monday.

We recommend ordering ahead, especially for weekends and busy seasons. Once a date is full, it's full.

Choose your Options

This is where you can get creative.

Tell us about the occasion, wording, style and any details you'd love to see on your cake.

Maybe a Happy Birthday Topper or an age on the cake.

Place the Order

Once you've decided on all your details, place your order through our online ordering system, in store, over the phone or by email.

For custom or more elaborate designs, you will need to contact us directly so we can discuss your ideas and provide a quote.

All payments are upfront to confirm the order.

Confirm the Details

Once your order is confirmed, check or listen to all the details carefully.

Date.
Time.
Size.
Flavour.
Wording.
Design.

If something doesn't look right, let us know as soon as possible.

Collect your Cake

On pick-up day, you will receive a text or email confirming your cake is ready with an image (if you have provided the correct information), please look at the image, if for any reason there is an adjustment or something isn't right, let us know immediately. Otherwise come collect your beautiful creation and please read our Cake Complete 101 before you arrive especially if you are new to Queen City Cakes or Swiss meringue buttercream cakes.
