Chocolate Truffle & Caramel Complete 101
Here’s everything you need to know about bringing home your Queen City Cakes chocolate truffles and caramels.
How to Store
Store your chocolates in the fridge.
Our chocolate truffles and caramels contain delicate fillings and are best kept refrigerated when you're not enjoying them.
Keep them in their original box or in an airtight container to protect them from moisture, fridge smells and condensation.
And please, don't put them beside yesterday's garlic pasta. Chocolate deserves better.
Chocolate and heat are not friends so please keep your chocolates away from:
- Direct sunlight
- Hot kitchens
- Radiators or heat sources
- Warm cars
- Windowsills
- Anywhere above comfortable room temperature
If you're taking chocolates somewhere, especially in warmer weather, keep them cool and out of direct heat.
A hot car is absolutely not a chocolate storage solution.
How to Serve
This is the big one.
Take your chocolates out of the fridge approximately 30 minutes before serving.
Allowing them to come toward room temperature lets the chocolate shell soften slightly and allows the filling to reach its intended creamy, silky texture.
Straight from the fridge chocolate will be firmer and colder, especially caramels. Beautifully tempered chocolate at room temperature will give you a much more luxurious bite.
Patience is delicious.
If cold chocolate is exposed to warm, humid air, you may occasionally see condensation appear on the surface.
This doesn't mean your chocolate has gone bad, it's simply what happens when chocolate experiences a temperature change.
Avoid repeatedly taking the chocolates in and out of the fridge.
Cold → room temperature → enjoy is the preferred routine.
How to Transport
Transport your chocolates flat and carefully.
Keep the box level and avoid tossing it into a handbag, leaving it loose in the car or putting heavy things on top.
If you're travelling any distance, especially during warmer weather, keeping them chilled until you arrive is the safest option.
Your chocolates should arrive looking as gorgeous as when they left us.
Chocolate Truffle and Caramel Difference
While both are chocolate shop favourites, they're not quite the same experience.
- Truffles are all about that beautiful combination of chocolate shell and soft, luxurious centre.
- Caramels have their own delicious personality — often softer, chewier and wonderfully rich.
Both benefit from being chilled for storage and brought toward room temperature before enjoying.
Because we didn't make these chocolates to be rushed.
Are they Gluten Friendly
Yes, one more very important thing, our Chocolate Truffles & Caramels are always gluten friendly.
Delicate, delicious and completely worth handling with a little extra care. Now you know your Chocolate Truffles & Caramels Complete 101, go forth and enjoy your chocolate delicacies properly.
