A story of caviar, from its origins to the modern table.
Caviar has long carried an air of mystery, luxury and indulgence, but its story began long before it became synonymous with grand occasions and Champagne.
Dating back centuries, sturgeon roe was enjoyed around the Caspian and Black Seas, where sturgeon were abundant. Over time, caviar became particularly prized by Persian and Russian cultures, eventually making its way onto the tables of European aristocracy and royal courts. Its rarity, delicate nature and the extraordinary time required for sturgeon to mature transformed these tiny pearls into one of the world's most coveted delicacies.
Today, caviar is still regarded so highly for much the same reason, it is precious, delicate and remarkably complex. Sturgeon can take many years to reach maturity, and producing quality caviar is an exacting process requiring patience, knowledge and care. Each variety brings its own character, from delicate and refined to rich, buttery and beautifully briny.
At Caviar Tea, we invite you to discover that story for yourself.
Experience White Sturgeon, Osetra and Sevruga caviar, all from Giaveri of Italy, and explore how each variety changes when paired with different vessels and accompaniments, delicate blinis, crisp crackers, sourdough bread, potato pancakes, potato chips, smoked salmon, blue cheese, creme fraiche, pickles, preserves, cheese and devilled eggs. Grapes for a palate cleanse.
And because no luxury experience should be without something sparkling, caviar is accompanied by Sparkling Rosé, Prosecco and Champagne, before the experience is rounded out with an exceptional dessert with sweet caviar.
But Caviar Tea is about more than simply tasting something luxurious. It is experience meets education.
Learn where caviar came from, why it became so highly prized, how different varieties compare, and perhaps most importantly, discover how you actually like to enjoy it.
For the seasoned caviar lover, it is an opportunity to explore.
For the curious, it is an invitation to try.
And for those who have never tasted caviar before, it is a rather delicious place to begin.
A little history. A little education. A lot of caviar. And, naturally, something sparkling.
Come curious. Leave with a new appreciation for caviar.
